Life Support

I’m leaving so soon! Someone asked me yesterday if I felt like I was ready for it to be here.  I think that everyone who was listening was expecting to me respond with a “No”.  However, for the past 18 weeks I have been counting down.  Checking my countdown daily, at times practically hourly in hopes that in some way it would supernaturally fast-forward time.
I'm so ready!

I think that a lot of times as Americans, particularly at my age, we’re always looking forward to what’s coming.  We live for the weekend, we live for the summer, we live for our date with the cute boy from our math class, we wait for our husbands, we wait for our children.   A lot of times we’re never content with where we are, what we’re doing in the here and now.  This has most definitely been a struggle for me these past few…months.  I am trying really difficult to focus on what I can do for the Lord right now – not how I’m going to be serving Him this summer.
Philippians 4: 12 - "I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation."

A few weeks ago I decided to create an event.  I thought that if all of my friends got together and made something for the children in the school that I would not only have a gift for the children but also have a constant reminder of their love and support when looking at what they’d made.

So last night we made them!  My generous friends and family made a total of 68 headbands! This is the week right before exams which for most of us is even busier than exam week so I was so thankful for everyone who showed up! Yesterday was just one of the many reminders of how great my family and friends are.  They have all been so supportive; from being there emotionally to being there financially I feel so loved. Anyway, here’s a few pictures from last night.

I have the most beautiful and creative friends!

A total of 68 headbands were made just last night!

So proud of all of our work!

Right now i'm listening to: Dr. Fisk's Child Growth and Development lecture. I promise I can multitask. :P
